1. Make sure the trailer is clean and dry before you start painting it.
2. Use a primer to seal the surface of the trailer’s walls and then paint it with an exterior paint which can withstand weather conditions.
3. It is recommended that you use a paint sprayer for this purpose as it will be easier and faster than using a brush or roller.
4. If you want to use an interior paint, make sure that it is made for this purpose as other paints might be too thin or too thick for the walls of your trailer and will not cover them properly or last long enough before they need to be repainted again.
How do you prepare an RV wall for painting?
Sand the walls – you don’t have to go crazy, but scuffing up the walls a bit will help the primer adhere. Clean the walls – My recommendation for this would be TSP. Prime the walls– If you want to use an oil-based primer, my favorite is Zinsser Cover Stain (Kilz is also a great choice).[1]
